EASTER SUNDAY GOSPEL

Narrator:
This is given to us from the Good News from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John

Very early on Sunday morning – just as the sun was rising – some of Jesus’ friends went to the tomb. They wanted to be near Jesus, even if He could not talk to them or see them.

Children walk across altar, with heads bowed, looking sad.
When they reach the centre they all stop and ‘GASP!’

Narrator:
They were amazed to see the huge rock rolled away. Who had moved it? It was so heavy! They crept inside ……..

Children tip-toe & pretend to look inside the tomb.

Narrator:
….. But Jesus was NOT THERE!! They were so dumbfounded that they couldn’t even think – and then shining angels gave them great news..

Angels:
1 : Why are you looking here for someone who is alive?

2: Jesus is not here. He is risen.

All: He was dead – but now He will live for ever.

Narrator:
The eyes of Jesus’ friends opened wider and wider. They couldn’t believe their ears.

Friends:
1: Jesus is not here. He is risen.

2 : He was dead – but now He will live for ever.

All: Alleluia Alleluia Jesus is alive!

Narrator:
They ran to tell the apostles …….

Children act ‘running on the spot’.
John & Peter come centre altar.

Friends:
1 : Come quick we have wonderful news.

2: Jesus is alive.

Narrator:
….  – and Peter and John raced to the cave to see for themselves …… and it was true Jesus was alive!

Peter & John:
Alleluia Alleluia Jesus is alive!

All the children take centre altar and sing:
'Sing for joy'
